History

Gauteng North Women's Golf - formerly known as Northern Transvaal Ladies Golf Association - was established in 1967 under the authority of the old Transvaal Ladies Golf Union.  In 1976 the members of Northern Transvaal felt it was time to steer their own ship and applied for independence to affiliate to the SA Ladies Golf Union under their own flag.   This goal was only reached in 1999 under the competent leadership of Past President - Mrs. Henda van Schalkwyk. 

GNWG Objectives

• To promote, advance, protect and foster the game of golf
• To bring about and maintain close co-operation between its member Clubs and the individual players thereof
• To encourage the promotion and hosting of golf competitions on the courses of its member Clubs
• To encourage the hosting of inter-area, inter-district, inter-club leagues and matches
• To aid, assist and generally promote the interests of its member Clubs.

Current:

GNWG has a total membership of ±1200 from the following clubs – Akasia GC , Blue Valley CC, Bronkhorstspruit GC, Centurion CC, Cullinan GC, Hillside GC, Irene CC, Monument GC, Pretoria GC, Pretoria CC, Services GC, Silver Lakes CC,
Wingate Park CC, Woodhill CC, Zwartkops CC.

GNWG entered a team in the Inter Provincial Teams Championship for the first time in 1999. The A Team qualified in the B Division and finished 3rd.
In 2000 the A team qualified in the B Division and finished 2nd.
With gradual improvement, the A Team  was the winners in the B Division in 2001.
In 2002 the team qualified in the A Section to compete with the best in women's golf namely, WP, KZN and Gauteng and finished 3rd.
In 2003 the A Team qualified in and won the B Division and the B Team qualified in the C Division (4th place).

GNWG INTER PROVINCIAL TEAM 2004

2004 happened to be a super year at IPT, the A Team qualified in the A Division along with Western Province A, Gauteng A and Boland A , ranking them with the top 20 (4th position). The B team qualified in the C Division along with Gauteng B,
Southern Cape and KZN, and finished in 4th place. KZN beat GN B with a halve a point to secure 3rd place

GNWG Inter Provincial Championship Team 2003

The A Team qualified for and won the B Division (4th place overall).  The B Team qualified for the C Division and finished in 4th place (12th place overall).

BLUE VALLEY GOLF ESTA TE
Adult Child Competition
At Blue Valley we feel that our future lie in the hands of our youth.  For this reason, we started an annual competition to develop and encourage junior players at our course.

The first Adult Child competition was held on the 31st of October 2004 with great anticipation and was well attended.  The format was an American Scramble.

The winners were :- Dessin & Preslin.

Seventh place :- Divyen & Strini.

In February we are launching a new 9-hole competition for Juniors aged five to ten.  The first competition will be held Sunday, 27th February. For more information on games and/or sponsorship, please contact Ladies Captain Anita Gouws on 082 654 4734.
