And there it is!! 2010 has arrived. May you have the best year of your life this year and may you have more fairway hits and more one putts than ever before.
Here's some news and some notices you need to pay attention to.
First of all there are a few diary changes due to late changes by the Union.
1) The Club Championships will take place on the weekend of 6 and 7th March and not as normal the second weekend as printed in the diary. Please change accordingly.
2) The Mid-Amateur and Betterball Leagues also change now to the 13 and 14th March.
3) The Captain's dinner will take place on Friday 12 February. Please make sure you book your table with Mike Irwin (contact 082-555-9462 or e-mail marcharb@mweb.co.za) or Ian Barrie at the office.
The entry forms for the Kalamazoo, Presidents Cup and Club Championships are on the notice board. Please make sure your entries are in before the cut off date which is 17th January.
We attach the entry forms for your convenience. Please make a printout and bring it with the entrance fee to the office.
Note that the course will be closed on Thursday 14 and Friday 15th January. Course maintenance and Hollowtining will take place on these days.
League
Jeff Delpêche will be the convener of the Handicap League Teams. Please make sure your name is on the list on the notice board if you want to play. This is a matter of urgency as the first game will be played on Sunday 7th February. So all arrangements needs to be finalized within the next two weeks. Contact Jeff on 082-493-6793 or e-mail jeff@lombardins.com or Ivor Randall on 082-337-3275 or e-mail ivorr@iafrica.com
The Scratch League and Mid Amateur League will be handled again by Johan Meyer.
The first Mid-Amateur League game needs to be played on 6th February. So get going!
This will be the first year we compete in league. So all the best to those who will be representing the Club.
Subscriptions
Subs for 2010 were due on 01st January. So please make sure you pay your subs. Note that there is an extension period if you haven't paid by 31st January, but then there is a penalty. So make sure you pay in time. There is also the option to pay off over a period if you need to. Please make sure you make arrangements with the office before end of January because all first payments are due on 1st January if you want to make use of the payment option.
Lastly we want to thank you all for the support you gave your Club in 2009. Preliminary figures show that we had a good year, despite the bad economic environment and all the pressures our members are operating under.
Let's keep it up and make 2010 a year to remember.
Ian Barrie
Manager
From our on course Professional, Andrew Corthing.
Andrew will be teaching at a Disabilaty Conference in Cape Town form 12 to 15 July 2009. Well done to Andrew to be chosen to do this. Good luck form all of us here at CMR.
A tip from Andrew
40% of your daily game consists of putting. 30% consist of 0 to 100m. So the conclusion is that 70% of your game is putting, chipping and pitching. So do yourself a favour and sort out your short game.
If you need help contact Andrew on 082-637-6912 or e-mail on andrew.corthing@gmail.com
